Kohl’s Cares Field Trip Grant Program: Investing in Milwaukee Students’ Education

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis., October 9, 2018 – Kohl’s (NYSE: KSS) continues its strong commitment to community and education by awarding over $1 million through the Kohl’s Field Trip Grant Program. This significant investment will enable more than 500 schools in the Milwaukee metro area to organize over 1,300 enriching field trips during the 2018-2019 school year. Students across Dodge, Jefferson, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington, and Waukesha counties will benefit directly from this initiative.

“Kohl’s is incredibly proud to support local students and educators through the Kohl’s Field Trip Grant Program, providing valuable opportunities for hands-on learning,” stated Jen Johnson, Kohl’s Senior Vice President of Communications. “We believe that experiential learning outside the classroom is crucial for enriching the curriculum and fostering a deeper understanding of various subjects. This grant program allows teachers to bring classroom lessons to life by immersing students in engaging activities at some of Milwaukee’s premier educational destinations.”

The Kohl’s Field Trip Grant Program, now in its sixth successful year, partners with leading educational organizations in the Milwaukee area. These partners include the Milwaukee Public Museum, Milwaukee County Zoo, Milwaukee Art Museum, Junior Achievement of Wisconsin, Hunger Task Force, Discovery World, and the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum. These collaborations ensure students have access to diverse and high-quality learning experiences.

These grants are specifically designed to alleviate the financial burdens associated with educational outings. The Kohl’s Field Trip Grant Program covers essential field trip costs, such as admission fees, transportation expenses, the cost of substitute teachers, and necessary learning materials for each outing. Individual grants, valued up to $1,000 each, were awarded to eligible schools on a first-come, first-served basis during a two-week application window in March 2018.
