Amerigroup Car Seat Program: Supporting Georgia Families with Essential Benefits

Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia is reinforcing its commitment to the health and well-being of Georgia families by introducing enhanced benefits aimed at providing crucial support at no cost to its members. Effective July 1st, these new additions include essential items such as free diapers, school clothing, and car seats, underscoring Amerigroup’s ongoing dedication to simplifying healthcare access and tackling everyday challenges that can impact overall health outcomes.

“Amerigroup’s core mission is to improve the health and lives of individuals and families across Georgia,” stated Mel Lindsey, Amerigroup Georgia’s Health Plan President. “We continually invest in innovative programs and partnerships that extend beyond traditional healthcare, ensuring our members have access to vital resources that promote healthy living and address social determinants of health.”

For families with young children, the Amerigroup Car Seat Program and related benefits offer significant relief. Expectant mothers enrolled in OB case management will receive free car seats, ensuring the safety of their newborns from day one. Additionally, Amerigroup recognizes the ongoing needs of growing families. Once a baby completes their first well-infant check-up, families become eligible for free diapers. As children reach toddlerhood, free potty training seats are also provided following the child’s two-year well-child check-up. These initiatives are designed to support families through key developmental stages, easing financial burdens associated with essential childcare items.

Beyond early childhood support, Amerigroup is also addressing the needs of school-aged children and teenagers. Recognizing that access to school clothing can significantly impact a child’s confidence and academic performance, Amerigroup is offering free back-to-school clothing. Furthermore, to incentivize academic excellence among older students, high schoolers in grades 9-12 who achieve all A’s on their report cards will be rewarded with $25 gift cards to popular retailers like Old Navy or Footlocker. These benefits aim to remove barriers to academic success and encourage student achievement.

Amerigroup’s support extends to adult members pursuing higher education as well. Adults over 18 attending college can access free oil changes at participating auto care partners throughout Georgia. This practical benefit helps college students maintain reliable transportation, which is often crucial for attending classes and managing daily responsibilities.

These newly introduced benefits complement Amerigroup Georgia’s existing comprehensive suite of value-added services. Members already benefit from programs such as free dental cleanings, eye exams, weight management support, pest control services, and asthma bedding programs. Eligibility for all benefits is based on specific plan requirements, ensuring that support is directed to those who need it most.
