Recognizing this, HPE took a bold step forward with the Cyber Security Career Reboot Program, an initiative designed to tap into diverse and non-traditional talent pools.

Unearthing Hidden Potential: Success of the Inaugural Cohort

Our first cohort of the Cyber Security Career Reboot program proved to be a revelation. We deliberately sought out individuals who might not have followed conventional paths into cybersecurity. These were people with varied backgrounds – individuals like a school bus driver and a restaurant owner whose business was impacted by unforeseen circumstances. What they shared was a drive to learn and a readiness for a career change.

While these participants express gratitude for the opportunity HPE provided, the truth is, HPE is equally, if not more, thankful for their participation. They embraced the challenge, taking a leap of faith into a new field. Their contribution has been immense, most importantly, validating the core principle behind the program: talent exists in unexpected places.

This remarkable group not only met but exceeded expectations in their performance. They have become an inspiration, reminding us all of the power of initiative, the courage to take risks, the importance of persistence, and the sheer triumph of overcoming self-doubt. We are profoundly grateful for their trust in us and for the energy and fresh perspectives they brought to our team.

Sparking Industry-Wide Change and Collaboration

The Cyber Security Career Reboot program has ignited crucial conversations within the cybersecurity community. Over the past year, discussions with fellow CISOs about addressing the persistent talent shortage have moved from talk to action. It’s encouraging to witness cybersecurity professionals across various organizations collaborating, sharing insights, and collectively seeking innovative solutions to our shared challenges. This collaborative spirit is vital for strengthening the industry as a whole.

Announcing the Permanent Cyber Security Career Reboot Program

Building on the resounding success of the pilot, we are thrilled to announce that the Cyber Security Career Reboot program is now a permanent fixture! We are officially launching recruitment for our next cohort, offering a continued pathway for individuals seeking a career pivot into cybersecurity.

If you know someone who is eager to enter the cybersecurity field but may lack the traditional academic qualifications or specific industry experience, encourage them to apply today. This program is specifically designed to break down those barriers and offer a real opportunity for a career transformation.

What Awaits Participants in the Program

The next cohort will benefit from the same comprehensive program structure that proved successful with our pioneers. Participants will gain hands-on experience across critical areas of cybersecurity, including policy development, compliance, ISO certifications, physical security protocols, security awareness training, and vulnerability management. They will also receive industry-recognized training, including CompTIA Security+, CySA+, Risk Management, and Certified Ethical Hacker certifications, with many from the first cohort already achieving their Security+ certification.

Beyond technical skills, participants will emerge with updated resumes reflecting their new experiences and, crucially, a significant boost in self-confidence. They will gain the invaluable understanding that they can overcome challenges and succeed in a demanding and rewarding field.

Tearing Down Walls, Building Careers

The Cyber Security Career Reboot program directly addresses the limitations of traditional job postings that often inadvertently create barriers through rigid education, qualification, and certification requirements. By dismantling these walls, we have unlocked access to a pool of highly motivated and capable individuals who are ready to contribute meaningfully to the cybersecurity industry.
