East Carolina University (ECU) hosted its Fall Career Fairs on October 17, 2018, at the Greenville Convention Center, providing a valuable platform for students and alumni to connect with a diverse range of employers. The event featured two distinct career fairs: the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) Career Fair in the morning and the Fall Career Fair for all majors in the afternoon.
The CET Career Fair, held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, specifically targeted students within Engineering and Technology majors, as well as those interested in exploring career paths within these dynamic fields. This focused session attracted over 100 employers, encompassing both local and national organizations eager to recruit talent. Students had a dedicated two-hour window to engage with company representatives, learn about potential opportunities, and network within their industry of interest.

Following the CET focused event, the Fall Career Fair opened its doors from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, welcoming students from all academic disciplines at ECU. This larger fair boasted an even greater presence, with over 200 employers participating and representing a wide spectrum of industries. The Fall Career Fair served as a comprehensive recruitment event for the entire ECU student body, offering opportunities across various sectors.
Both career fairs were designed to facilitate meaningful interactions between ECU students and alumni and potential employers from across the nation. Companies were actively recruiting for a variety of positions, including internships, part-time roles, and full-time employment opportunities. Attendees had the chance to make professional connections and even schedule on-site interviews with recruiters from diverse industries such as science, technology, business, government, and healthcare.
Patrick Roberts, Associate Director for ECU Career Services, highlighted the effectiveness of these events, stating, “According to recent ECU student survey responses, 93 percent of students that attended a previous career fair discovered at least one employer related to their major or career interests.” This statistic underscores the career fair’s success in aligning student aspirations with real-world employment opportunities, reflecting ECU Career Services’ commitment to providing relevant and diverse career pathways. The goal was to empower students to build relationships with employers directly connected to their career ambitions.
