We recently connected with some of these exceptional students to understand their journeys and aspirations within the program.
Meet Norviana: An Aspiring Nurse Driven by Passion and Purpose
To truly appreciate the impact of the Called to Care Program, let’s hear from Norviana, a dedicated scholar from the second cohort. Her journey exemplifies the program’s ability to transform aspirations into reality.
From N2N Student to Called to Care Scholar: A Journey of Growth
“My journey to nursing has been an incredibly rewarding experience,” Norviana shares. Her path began in high school as part of Chamberlain University’s N2N program, allowing her to complete prerequisite courses, building a strong foundation for her nursing degree. Simultaneously, she pursued practical skills at the New Orleans Career Center, earning certifications as a medical assistant and Patient Care Technician (PCT) while still in high school. Navigating her studies through the challenges of the pandemic, Norviana embraced online learning and remained focused on her goals.
Joining the Called to Care Scholars Program marked a significant milestone. “It was a turning point,” she explains. “I can now fully focus on my studies and strive to become the best nurse I can be.” Norviana is enthusiastic about acquiring new skills and building connections within the healthcare community, eager to gain practical insights into the multifaceted world of nursing.
Making a Positive Impact: Spreading Honesty and Personality
Norviana’s aspirations extend beyond personal achievement. “Looking back, I want to be proud of my accomplishments and know that I’ve positively influenced people,” she says. Her core desire is to impact the world by sharing her genuine personality and unwavering honesty, creating meaningful connections with patients and colleagues alike.

The supportive community within the program, where peers encourage and assist each other, further strengthens her resolve.
Overcoming Challenges: Prioritizing Education for Future Success
Norviana faced obstacles on her path, particularly balancing work and studies. Initially working at University Medical Center, she realized the demanding hours were hindering her academic progress. “Deciding to leave my job to focus on school was tough,” she admits, “but it was the right decision for my future.” This commitment to prioritizing her education underscores her dedication to her nursing career.
Discovering the Called to Care Program: A Life-Changing Opportunity
Norviana learned about the Called to Care Program through Hope Williams from Organizational Development at LCMC Health.
