Eligibility and Requirements
To be eligible for the UCLA Care Extender Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age: Be at least 18 years old.
- Education: Be currently enrolled in college or hold an accredited degree.
- Commitment: Commit to 250 volunteer hours (4 hours per week for one year), plus 2 additional hours with the main department during the first rotation. Shift times vary, starting as early as 7:00 AM and extending to 11:00 PM, with extended hours until 3:00 AM in the ER department.
- Orientation: Attend a mandatory orientation session held quarterly (check the program website for dates).
