Simply initiate the process online by selecting a nonprofit or give us a call, and our dedicated team will guide you through each step.
Effortless Vehicle Pickup
We understand convenience is key. CARS provides free vehicle pickup services across the US and in select areas of Canada. In many cases, we can schedule your pickup during your initial call. If immediate scheduling isn’t available, a CARS representative will contact you within 2-3 business days to arrange a pickup time that works for you. Need your vehicle gone sooner? Call us directly at 855-500-RIDE (855-500-7433), and we’ll do our best to accommodate your timeline. A licensed tow truck will collect your vehicle at no cost, and you’ll receive a donation receipt from the driver right away.
Strategic Vehicle Sales for Maximum Benefit
Once your vehicle is donated, CARS ensures it generates the maximum possible contribution for your chosen nonprofit. We operate sales locations where each vehicle is carefully evaluated. When feasible, we invest in necessary repairs to increase its value. The majority of vehicles are sold through auction houses, leveraging competitive bidding to achieve optimal prices. For unique or specialty vehicles, we explore alternative sales channels to ensure the best outcome. Our commitment is to maximize the financial return from every cars donation program for the benefit of the nonprofit organizations we partner with.
Tax Deduction and Necessary Paperwork
Donating your vehicle not only supports a worthy cause but can also provide you with a valuable tax deduction. Within 30 days of your vehicle’s sale, CARS will send you a thank-you letter serving as your initial tax receipt. For vehicles sold for $500 or less, this letter is typically sufficient for your tax records. If your car sells for over $500, and we have your Taxpayer Identification Number, we will also mail you IRS Form 1098-C, “Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes,” providing you with all the necessary documentation for claiming your tax deduction.
