Discover the Cornerstone Care Teaching Health Center Program: Your Path in Family Medicine

The Cornerstone Care Teaching Health Center (CCTHC) Family Medicine Residency Program, proudly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), stands as a distinguished institution for aspiring family physicians. As one of approximately 60 Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) programs funded by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), we are committed to training residents to excel in high-quality care, particularly within rural and underserved communities. Our affiliation with Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, WV, further strengthens our program’s robust foundation.

Our program distinguishes itself by providing a comprehensive inpatient experience, ensuring our residents are well-prepared and confident in hospital-based medicine practice. Mon Health Medical Center, a state-of-the-art 164-bed facility renowned in the tri-state area, serves as the primary site for inpatient and specialty rotations. This offers residents access to advanced technology and collaboration with an exceptional physician staff. The ambulatory care component is equally robust, taking place within Cornerstone Care clinics and affiliated physician offices, immersing residents in the full spectrum of family medicine. Our unique focus on the underserved patient population in the region provides unparalleled training in rural medicine, preparing residents to address diverse healthcare needs.

To broaden clinical exposure, our residents benefit from rotations at West Virginia University (WVU) in Morgantown for inpatient pediatrics during their first year, and at Washington Health System – Greene in Waynesburg, PA, throughout their training for additional inpatient medicine experience. Recognizing diverse career interests, we offer specialized tracks including a two-year longitudinal Sports Medicine track for those passionate about sports medicine or pursuing related fellowships. Furthermore, our ACGME Osteopathic Recognition underscores our commitment to osteopathic principles within the curriculum. Our dedicated teaching faculty, with expertise in women’s health, psychiatry, and research, offer enriched training opportunities in these specialized domains. The longitudinal behavioral medicine experience is another unique program feature, allowing residents to build strong patient relationships within our behavioral medicine clinic, further enhanced by an optional Behavioral Medicine track for deeper engagement.

Cornerstone Care and Mon Health Medical Center share a joint commitment to fostering resident education and expanding access to crucial medical care within our communities.
