The East Carolina University (ECU) College of Business (COB) Career Fair is thrilled to announce Matt Crisp as the keynote speaker. A distinguished alumnus of ECU, Matt’s journey from Greenville to global business success is an inspiring narrative for students embarking on their professional paths. This year’s Ecu Cob Career Fair attendees are in for a treat as they gain insights from a leader who has not only navigated the complexities of the financial world but has also shaped the landscape of financial technology.
Matt Crisp’s connection with ECU began with his undergraduate degree in Finance in ‘93, followed by an MBA in ‘96. His academic foundation at ECU served as a springboard for a remarkable career. Early roles at First Data Investor Services and Watson Wyatt Investment Consulting provided him with crucial industry experience before he took a leap into entrepreneurship.
In 2000, Matt co-founded eVestment, a FinTech powerhouse based in Atlanta. As Chief Operating Officer, he was instrumental in scaling the company from a startup to a global enterprise with over 400 employees and a presence in major international hubs like London, Hong Kong, and Sydney. eVestment’s impressive growth trajectory earned it a place on the Inc. 5000 list for 11 consecutive years, and recognition as a top workplace by Forbes and the Atlanta Business Chronicle, alongside tech giants like Google and Amazon. This period showcased Matt’s expertise in strategic leadership, global expansion, and successful post-acquisition integration, merging nine companies into a unified, thriving entity. His experience at eVestment provides invaluable real-world lessons for anyone attending the ECU COB Career Fair, especially those interested in finance, technology, and business management careers.
Following the acquisition of eVestment by NASDAQ in 2017, Matt transitioned into a private investor, channeling his expertise into supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs. Through his investment funds, he has invested in numerous pre- and post-revenue companies across diverse sectors, demonstrating his keen eye for identifying and nurturing successful businesses. This entrepreneurial spirit and investment acumen are key takeaways Matt is expected to share at the ECU COB Career Fair, offering practical advice to aspiring business professionals.
Beyond his business ventures, Matt remains deeply connected to ECU and the wider community. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the East Carolina University Foundation, contributing to the university’s growth and development. Furthermore, his commitment to education extends to his role as a board member of The Ron Clark Academy, a renowned non-profit organization focused on innovative education. Matt’s multifaceted career and dedication to giving back make him an exceptional keynote speaker for the ECU COB Career Fair. Attendees will benefit immensely from his experiences and perspectives, gaining valuable insights to help them navigate their own career journeys.
