Sports Medicine Physician

The Department of Family Medicine within the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University invites applications for a Sports Medicine Physician. This full-time faculty position is open to board certified/board eligible Family Medicine physicians with added qualifications in Sports Medicine. The position is offered at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor/Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor/Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor/Professor, with the specific rank being determined by the candidate’s experience. This role is available on a fixed term or tenure track basis. The successful applicant will become an integral part of a well-respected medical practice known for its strong divisions in residency and medical student education, sports medicine, geriatrics, and research.

The selected faculty member will serve within the Sports Medicine Division, contributing to the education and mentorship of sports medicine residents and fellows, as well as medical students. Responsibilities include teaching, mentoring, advising, and supervising trainees in the Sports Medicine clinical setting. The physician will also provide direct medical care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient environments and participate in scholarly activities.

Rural Residency Academic Physician

East Carolina University’s Department of Family Medicine is also recruiting for two Rural Residency Academic Physicians. We are seeking board certified/board eligible Family Medicine physicians to join our team at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor/Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor/Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor/Professor. The specific title and rank will be determined based on the experience of the selected candidate, and positions are available on a fixed term or tenure track. Successful candidates will be joining a thriving medical practice with recognized strengths in residency education, medical student training, sports medicine, geriatrics, and research initiatives.

These faculty positions are dedicated to training both standard program residents and rural program residents within urban and rural practice settings. The primary location for these roles will be the urban center in Greenville, NC. Faculty responsibilities will include precepting, inpatient and outpatient clinical duties, administrative tasks, and didactic teaching at the urban site. Approximately one to two days per week will be spent at one of the three rural sites associated with the program. Work at rural sites will focus on precepting in the rural continuity clinic and engaging in didactic and administrative roles. Each rural site accommodates nine assigned residents. This innovative rural family medicine program is designed to be flexible, allowing faculty to pursue diverse special interests such as evidence-based medicine, PI/QI, underserved populations, procedures, geriatrics, women’s health, pediatrics, international missions, and physician leadership. The Geriatrics Faculty Physician will be involved in teaching, mentoring, advising, and supervising Family Medicine residents, Geriatric fellows, medical students, and other learners. Clinical responsibilities include providing medical care to patients at the Monk Geriatric Ambulatory clinic, Family Medicine Center, ECU Health Medical Center, and a continuing care community with skilled care beds. Participation in various scholarly endeavors is also expected.

The Geriatrics Division Director will be responsible for establishing a vision, building the division, and leading clinical, teaching, and research activities within the Geriatrics Division. As a member of the department’s senior leadership team, the Director will help shape the future of Geriatrics and contribute to broader departmental initiatives. Responsibilities include leading and supervising faculty within the Geriatrics Division of the Department of Family Medicine, while also functioning as a faculty physician.
