McLaren Health Care/Oakland/MSU Program: Comprehensive Continuity Clinic Experience

Medical Residents at McLaren Oakland benefit from an exceptional continuity clinic experience at Baybrooke Internal Medicine, a cornerstone of the Mclaren Health Care/oakland/msu Program. This half-day weekly commitment offers residents the unique opportunity to function as junior partners within the clinic, actively building their own patient panel and delivering high-value, quality care.

The program is meticulously designed to cultivate well-rounded physicians. Residents gain hands-on experience in managing a spectrum of patient needs, from chronic disease management and preventative care strategies to addressing acute outpatient conditions. Furthermore, the clinic provides a platform to refine essential procedural skills. Residents have access to Butterfly IQ ultrasound technology, enhancing their diagnostic capabilities. They also practice and perform crucial procedures such as joint injections and aspirations, cerumen removal and irrigation, and skin biopsies, all within a supportive learning environment.

Under the guidance of experienced faculty, residents provide essential care to the diverse patient population of Pontiac and surrounding communities. Clinic Director, Dr. Robert Davis, and part-time faculty member, Dr. Lyndsi Davenport, provide direct supervision and mentorship.

Dr. Davis brings a wealth of international and domestic experience to the program. A graduate of St. George’s University of London, with clinical rotations at the prestigious Sheba Medical Center in Israel, Dr. Davis completed his residency at Wellspan York Hospital in Pennsylvania. His clinical interests include advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, cultivated during his time as a Hospitalist at Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Davis further enriched his academic profile by completing an Academic Fellowship at Michigan State University in April 2023, shortly after joining McLaren Oakland in August 2022.

Dr. Davenport is an alumna of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency training at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, MI, and holds a special interest in preventive medicine and chronic disease management. Dr. Davenport also completed an Academic Fellowship at Michigan State University, concluding in October 2021, further solidifying the strong MSU program affiliation within McLaren Oakland.
