  • It’s important to understand that the Career Development Program is not an entitlement program. Admission is based on a comprehensive evaluation to ensure the program is the right fit for each individual’s success.
  • The application process includes a thorough individualized assessment that considers several key factors: your current job readiness, your financial and social support needs, your specific employment and training needs within the automotive field, the current demands of the automotive labor market, and your potential for successfully completing a training program and securing long-term employment as an auto technician.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for automotive career development program jobs and training opportunities, all applicants must meet the following basic criteria:

  • Be 18 years of age or older (for adult programs).
  • Be a U.S. citizen or a non-citizen authorized to work in the United States.
  • Meet Selective Service registration requirements (males only, as required by law).
  • Young Adult and Adult applicants may be required to meet specific Income Guidelines to qualify for certain program services. Your case manager will clarify these guidelines based on your situation.
  • If you are seeking Classroom Training in a specific automotive skill, certain pre-requisites may be required. Your assigned Career Development Case Manager will review these prerequisites with you to ensure you are prepared for the training.

After you successfully gain employment in the automotive industry and/or complete your training program, the Career Development Program remains committed to your long-term success. We will follow up with you for 12 months to provide ongoing support, assist with job retention strategies, and help you identify and pursue career advancement opportunities within the automotive sector.
