General Volunteer Opportunities

Ambassadors (Nebraska Medical Center, Bellevue Medical Center and Village Pointe Health Center)

Become a vital part of the welcoming experience at Nebraska Medicine. As an Ambassador, you will greet guests at our main entrances and provide essential wayfinding assistance within the facility. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy interacting with people and providing a helpful first impression.

  • Locations & Schedules: Weekdays at Bellevue and Village Pointe (7 a.m. to 4 p.m.), and Weekdays at Nebraska Medical Center (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Anatomic Pathology (Nebraska Medical Center)

Support the critical work of our Anatomic Pathology department. Volunteers in this role assist staff with the important tasks of slide delivery and organizing slide files for storage. This is a behind-the-scenes opportunity to contribute to essential diagnostic processes.

  • Schedule: Weekdays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cardiac Intensive Care/Progressive Care Inpatient Unit (Nebraska Medical Center)

Make a direct impact on patient comfort in our Cardiac Intensive Care and Progressive Care units. In this role, you will visit newly admitted patients to introduce them to hospital services, explain patient guides, and detail food ordering procedures, helping to ease their transition and improve their hospital stay. Clinic/Department Assistant (Nebraska Medical Center, Bellevue Medical Center and Village Pointe Health Center)

Become an integral part of our outpatient clinics by assisting patients and their families. Provide administrative support to clinic staff across various departments, including:

Emergency Department (Nebraska Medical Center and Bellevue Medical Center)

Offer crucial support in our fast-paced Emergency Departments. Assist families and staff by performing essential non-medical duties. This role requires maturity and the ability to handle a dynamic environment.

  • Locations & Schedules: Nebraska Medical Center (Weekdays and Weekends, 8 a.m. to midnight), Bellevue Medical Center (10 a.m. to 10 p.m.).
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.

Equipment Transporter (Nebraska Medical Center)

Play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment. Transport soiled reusable equipment from patient floors throughout Nebraska Medical Center to the Clarkson Tower Sterile Processing area. This is a physically active role contributing to infection control.

Heart and Vascular Inpatient Unit (Nebraska Medical Center)

Similar to the Cardiac Care Unit role, here you will focus on patients in the Heart and Vascular Inpatient Unit. Visit newly admitted patients to explain patient guides, food ordering, and other services designed to improve their hospital experience. Provide support and hospitality to patients and families in our Infusion Centers. Assist with hospitality tasks and provide general department support, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for those undergoing treatments.

  • Schedule: Weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Lied Tower Inpatient Unit Support (Nebraska Medical Center)

Support patient floors within Lied Tower by undertaking nonclinical tasks. Visit with patients to explain patient guides, meal ordering, and other services, directly contributing to a smoother and more comfortable patient stay.

  • Schedule: Weekdays and Weekends, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Neurology Inpatient Unit (Nebraska Medical Center)

Assist patients in our Neurology Inpatient Unit by introducing them to educational tablets and other guest tools designed to enhance their stay. Your role helps patients access resources and information to improve their hospital experience.

  • Schedule: Weekdays and Weekends, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Patient Mail (Nebraska Medical Center)

Brighten a patient’s day through a simple yet meaningful task. Deliver mail and “Well Wishes” e-mails to patients, providing a personal connection to the outside world during their hospital stay.

  • Schedule: Weekdays, afternoons.

Pulmonary Diagnostic Ambassadors (Nebraska Medical Center)

Enhance guest relations and improve patient experiences within our Pulmonary Diagnostic areas. Escort patients throughout the campus to appointments and entrances, providing guidance and support to ease their visit.
